Gopal Khemka murder case: Suspect who supplied weapons to shooter killed in encounter

Patna: A suspected criminal linked to the murder of Gopal Khemka, a prominent businessman and owner of Magadh Hospital in Bihar, was killed during a police encounter. The suspect had allegedly supplied weapons to the shooter.

Police sources on Tuesday said that on Monday, they arrested Umesh, also known as Vijay, who is the shooter in the Khemka murder case, in the Malsalami area.

When police reached the house of Vikas, alias Raja, a suspect linked to Gopal Khemka's murder, on Tuesday in the Malsalami police station area to arrest him, he started firing at the police. Police also fired in self-defence, and Raja was killed in the encounter.

Sources said that Raja had provided weapons to shooter Umesh.

Senior Superintendent of Police of Patna, Kartikeya Sharma, said Raja has no direct links to the Khemka murder case. However, there are numerous cases already registered against him, and he is linked to several murders.

Sources said that the suspects taken into custody are being questioned.

Gopal Khemka was driving home in his car late on Friday night. As soon as he reached the gate of his apartment located near Hotel Panash, he was shot dead.
