Govt ready to listen to Oppn views on all issues, PM Modi says at all-party meet
, Thursday, 30 January 2020 (15:01 IST)
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said the government is ready to ‘listen’ to opposition views on the prevailing situation in the country and also on economic issues.

Mr Modi made the remarks at the all-party meeting convened by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi here on the eve of Budget session and was attended among others by senior Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and other leaders from various parties were also present.

Speaking to reporters after the meet, Mr Joshi said, “Prime Minister has also called for detailed discussions on economic issues and how India can take advantage in the context of global economic situation”.

The government is likely to bring in at least 45 Bills for discussions during the Budget session getting underway on Friday.

The Budget for fiscal 2020-21 will be presented on February 1 by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

The Budget session of Parliament will take place close on the heels of series of anti-CAA protest and violence in university campuses in various parts of the country.

Answering questions, Mr Joshi also said that as the Citizenship Amendment Bill was passed following due process in both the Houses during Winter session, the Opposition parties need to ‘introspect’ on their stance outside Parliament on the new law. (UNI)
