New Delhi: The Department of Revenue has waived off customs duty on Remdesivir and its Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) or KSM (Key Starting Material), Union Minister for Chemical and Fertilizers DV Sadanand Gowda informed on Wednesday.
The Minister said that the decision was taken after considering the immediate requirement on the recommendation of the Department of Pharmaceuticals. “This step will further augment domestic availability of Remdesivir injection,” he said.
Remdesivir is a broad-spectrum antiviral medication that has demonstrated in vitro activity against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). (UNI)
