Sagar: In a horrifying incident, a teenage girl was gang-raped by two men, who later attempted to burn her alive after pouring kerosene over her at Deval village in Madhya Pradesh's Sagar district late last evening, police said.

The victim (15) – a class VIII student – was admitted to the Bundelkhand Medical College with 80 per cent burn injuries. Senior officials reached the college this morning. The girl was sexually assaulted by two men hailing from her village. The accused are absconding. Police have launched a search to nab the accused.

The incident comes four days after the Madhya Pradesh Assembly unanimously passed a bill that envisages handing out death penalty to rape convicts involving minor girls of 12 years. (UNI)
