Guj leader Jignesh Mevani calls for BJP defeat in electoral politics
, Thursday, 16 November 2017 (11:15 IST)
New Delhi: Calling BJP a 'fascist party', Gujarat Leader Jignesh Mevani on Wednesday alleged that the ruling party in the state had stooped to a new low in trying to malign political activist Hardik Patel by conducting a sex sting operation on him for electoral advantage in the Assembly polls.Addressing a press conference here, Mr Mevani said," To awaken people, we will organise Jan sabhas in Gujarat and marches with Hardik Patel and also mobilise 50,000 people to defeat the BJP and RSS propaganda in the state.'

Declaring that Gujarat elections will be historical and decisive, Mr Mevani said their aim was to stop the BJP from coming to power again in the state. He charged the BJP with 'frustration' and said in its sheer desperation, 'it is writing a new definition of obscene politics by attacking opponent Hardik Patel'.He said BJP leaders talked about development for full four years and ten months and when elections were round the corner, it diverted attention from people's issues. 'The situation under Chief minister Vijay Rupani has worsened as Dalits are not getting their promised lands, there is shortage of medical staff in health clinics, government jobs are declining and 50,000 Dalits are praticising manual scavenging,' said Mr Mevani.

Flaying the BJP, Mr Mevani called BJP government's "Sabka saath, sabka vikas " model a façade, as the peasants, the youths and the labourers were on streets and farmers' pathetic condition was driving them towards suicides in the state.Taking a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's slogan "Will neither get involve in corruption nor let others get involved", Mr Mevani alleged 'corruption' and 'financial irregularities' were rampant in the state's economy.

He also said at election time, 'We will ask all contesting parties as to what steps they are taking for Dalits' welfare. We are not with any political party but will encourage the electorate to defeat the RSS agenda in the state.'Mr Mevani also announced that they will ask the Modi government to fulfill his promise of jobs to two crore people and reservations in jobs to Patels in Gujarat.

'Winning polls is a question of prestige for the BJP and they would like to win them by hook or by crook. We also have an independent place in Gujarat politics and can approach the Election Commission regarding our complaints," stated Mr Mevani.Challenging BJP president Amit Shah and the Prime Minister for a debate, Mr Mevani said BJP will not be able to garner more than 80 seats in the 182-member assembly.(UNI)
