Harsimrat's resignation accepted, Tomar gets charge

New Delhi:President Ram Nath Kovind has accepted the resignation of Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal from the Union Cabinet with immediate effect.

Mr Kovind accepted the resignation of Ms Badal from the post of Union Minister of Food Processing Industries under sub-section two of Article 75 of the Constitution after Prime Minister Narendra Modi recommended her resignation, a Rashtrapati Bhavan communique here said.

On the advice of the Prime Minister,  Mr Kovind has given charge of the Union Ministry of Food Processing Industries to Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar. He will now look after the work of the Union Ministry of Food Processing Industries along with the Ministry of Agriculture.(UNI)
