VIDEO: Haryana Minister Anil Vij Left Behind by Rajnath Singh’s Convoy, Seen Asking for Lift

In an unusual incident outside the Kurukshetra Development Board (KDB) office on Monday, Haryana Cabinet Minister Anil Vij was spotted signalling passing vehicles for a lift after being inadvertently left behind when Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s convoy departed for an event at Kurukshetra University.

Vij had travelled with Rajnath Singh from the Ambala Air Force Station to attend the International Gita Mahotsav (IGM). After the Defence Minister offered prayers at the Brahmasarovar and inaugurated the festival along with the Haryana Pavilion, his convoy proceeded toward a seminar at Kurukshetra University — but without the senior state minister.

Eyewitnesses said Vij stood by the roadside trying to flag down vehicles, though none stopped despite people recognising him. The situation became awkward as staff members of BJP MP Naveen Jindal, who were also present, attempted unsuccessfully to stop a car for him.

After several minutes, a vehicle from Jindal’s convoy finally halted. The front-seat occupant made way for Vij, who then left for the venue in that car.

Authorities have not commented on how such a protocol lapse or convoy mismanagement occurred during a high-profile state event.
