Haryana: Youth duped of Rs 39 lakh, sent to turkey instead of America, threatened to be killed when asked for money

Kaithal: The Sadar police station has arrested a man who allegedly duping a youth of Rs 39 lakh on the pretext of sending him to America.
 
The arrested accused was identified as Surajmal alias Surju, a resident of village Kamalwala, district Fatehabad.
 
A police spokesperson said on Saturday that according to the complaint lodged by one Suresh, a resident of village Guhna, his son Manish was interested in going abroad.
 
His neighbour Shiv Kumar told him that his maternal uncle's son Surajmal, a resident of village Kamalwala in district Fatehabad, sends youngsters abroad. He took Shiv Kumar with him and went to Tohana, where he met Suraj in his office on December 15, 2022.
 
There they found Surju and Jagmohan, residents of Baliala district, Fatehabad.
 
According to Suresh, the accused sought Rs 45 lakh to get the US visa for his son and agreed to share details of the contract agent with the family members. They assured him that they will be responsible for his son's entry into America.
 
After that, he came to his home.
 
Later, the accused, Surju and Jagmohan, along with Mandeep, a resident of Samain, and Anil, a resident of Kaldi, came to his house and took Rs 39 lakh from him at different times.
 
On February 15, 2023, the accused sent Manish to Dubai. Later, in March of that year, he was flown to Azerbaijan. After that, he was sent to Kazakhstan and from there, to Turkey in April. When his son did not get any further visas, he spoke to the agent.
 
The accused assured him that they would get the US visa soon. Later, he also stopped picking up the phone. His son returned to India from Turkey on April 27, 2023, through another agent.
After that, when the complainant asked the accused for refund of his Rs 39 lakh, the accused flatly refused to give the money.
 
When he repeatedly asked for money, the accused threatened to kill him.
 
Then, he registered the cheating case at the Sadar police station.
 
The accused was produced in a court on Saturday, which remanded him in police custody for three days for further investigation.
