New Delhi: The Supreme Court has recalled its earlier order allowing a 14-year-old rape survivor to terminate her pregnancy, saying that the health of the mother is paramount.

The Supreme Court reversed its order after the parents expressed their desire to have the baby after concerns were raised concerning the safety of their daughter's health.

The Chief Justice of India, D Y Chandrachud, said, 'interest of the child is paramount' after speaking to the child's parents over video conferencing.

The parents of the minor girl expressed their will to take their daughter back home and deliver the baby.

Earlier, the Apex Court had set aside the Bombay High Court order, which had declined to grant permission to the minor to go ahead with the Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MRTP).

The Apex Court had allowed the 14-year-old to terminate her 30-month-old pregnancy after going through the medical reports of her health.

On Monday, after the parents sought to continue with the pregnancy, the bench allowed them to do so, saying that the health of Minor is paramount.
