Mumbai: Heavy rains lashed the financial capital for the fourth day on Tuesday causing waterlogging in low-lying areas, disrupting traffic. Some trains have been cancelled while others are running late by 40-45 minutes as tracks are waterlogged after heavy overnight rain.
As the Meteorological department has predicted more rain, the city's iconic 'Dabbawala' or lunch box carriers have cancelled services for today. On Monday, Mumbai received five times the average rainfall for this season.

Following heavy rain, the train service between Virar and Borivali has been suspended.
The Central Railway's suburban services are running normally at all its corridors, despite heavy overnight rain.

Maharashtra State Education Minister Vinod Tawde on Tuesday said, "Instructed Deputy Director to ensure that the schools in Thane and Palghar district remain closed due to the erratic weather conditions. In Mumbai, the principals of schools are instructed to take the call on school closure, gauging the water logging in the adjacent areas."

Jet Airways said there could be a 30-minute delay of flights arriving to and departing Mumbai.
The airline said they will not be charging a penalty fee today for date and flight changes for travelers who've booked their tickets to and from Mumbai.

Due to water-logging, around 400 people were stuck in their homes in Vasai town of the adjoining Palghar district on Monday. However, they refused to be evacuated even as the water level receded, an official said.On Monday between 0830 hrs and 1730 hrs, the Colaba observatory recorded a rainfall of 104.8 mm.(UNI)
