Chandigarh: The anti-human trafficking unit of Haryana police, successfully reunited Satbir, alias Tarzan, with his family after 11 years.

The boy, who disappeared from his family in Tarawadi, Karnal district, 11 years ago, is now 20 years old. He was reunited with his family in the presence of the ADGP, Mamta Singh. On the occasion, the family expressed their deep gratitude to the Haryana police.

DGP, Shatrujeet Kapur, congratulated the entire team of the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit for their achievement and encouraged them to continue delivering excellent performance in future.

Satbir went missing from Karnal district 11 years ago, and a missing persons report was filed at Tarawadi police station, Karnal, in September 2013. A reward of Rs 5000 was also announced for locating him. The case of Satbir's disappearance was handed over to the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit. The team contacted Satbir's mother, who informed them of a dog bite scar on his hand and a monkey bite mark on his left arm.

Satbir’s father had passed away, and his mother had been waiting for years, hoping for her son's return.

The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit worked relentlessly to find Satbir. ASI Rajesh Kumar prepared posters of Satbir and distributed them across childcare institutions in cities like Delhi, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai, Kanpur, Shimla and Lucknow.

One day, the team was contacted by representatives of a government care organisation in Lucknow, who reported that a boy named Satbir, who was staying in their facility, matched the description on the poster. The child had arrived at the care institution in Meerut after he was found wandering alone at Ghaziabad railway station by Childline.

The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit questioned Satbir and verified the facts before bringing him back to Haryana. After confirming his identity, Satbir was reunited with his mother and brother. The family was overjoyed to have him back after 11 years, repeatedly expressing their gratitude to the Haryana police.

After completing all legal formalities, Satbir was officially handed over to his family during the day.
