Months have passed since Operation Sindoor, but the mission is not fully concluded — it has only been paused. During this major operation carried out in May, enraged by its losses, Pakistan launched missiles targeting several residential areas in Jammu and Kashmir. One of its key targets was the Uri Hydroelectric Power Plant.
Pakistan attempted to strike the Uri hydropower facility, but CISF personnel successfully thwarted the attack. Located close to the Line of Control (LoC), the plant was protected after CISF teams shot down Pakistan’s drones mid-air, preventing any damage.
For their extraordinary bravery, 19 CISF personnel have been honoured. During Operation Sindoor, they neutralized late-night drone attacks on Uri Hydroelectric Power Project Units 1 and 2 (UHEP-1 & UHEP-2). Additionally, when Pakistan began heavy firing, the CISF team swiftly evacuated 250 civilians living nearby, ensuring their safety.
Recognizing their courage, the CISF Director General felicitated all 19 personnel at the CISF headquarters in New Delhi. Describing what happened that night on the LoC, CISF officials shared the following account:
"Amid intense cross-border shelling in May 2025, CISF teams at Uri Hydro Electric Projects displayed extraordinary courage, safeguarding vital national assets and evacuating 250 civilians to safety despite the high risk to their own lives."
"Led by Commandant Ravi Yadav, with the officers and personnel carried out real-time threat analysis, reinforced bunkers, maintained critical communications, neutralised hostile drones and ensured zero civilian casualties—upholding the highest standards of Protection & Security."
