Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police today provided money to five Amarnath pilgrims, who had lost their cash on way towards shortest Baltal route to the holy cave shrine from Srinagar. Police also provided meals, medicine and night stay to pilgrims at Awantipora after their vehicle developed some fault in the engine.

A police spokesperson here tonight said that five Amarnath pilgrims identified as Kalan Ama wife of Durga, Shaker Lal wife of Bajma, Sujama wife of Tagda, Naveno son of Naga Lakshmi and Manjla wife of Ramian while travelling from Srinagar towards Baltal for Amarnath yatra lost their money somewhere on the way.

“The police personnel posted at Police Station Kangan came forward to help them and voluntarily contributed Rs 5000 in order to facilitate their journey,” he added.

A senior police officer said when a bus of Yatris developed some technical snag at Awantipora in south Kashmir on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, the police personnel immediately sealed the entire area and took the pilgrims to the district police lines, where they were provided food, medicine and shelter. The pilgrims have lauded the police and also locals who helped them. (UNI)
