New Delhi: Hundreds of residents in Delhi were hospitalized over recent days after reportedly consuming adulterated 'kuttu ka atta' or buckwheat flour, a staple food for those observing fasts during the Navratri festival.

Incidents were reported in areas including Jahangirpuri, where more than 150 people sought treatment. Patients were admitted to medical facilities such as Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital and a hospital in Burari, according to reports.

The incident has sparked a political confrontation in the capital. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) criticized the BJP-led Central government and municipal administration, referring to them as the "four-engine" government.

AAP Delhi unit president Saurabh Bharadwaj alleged that the government was preoccupied with festival celebrations while failing to prevent adulterated food from reaching the market.

AAP leader and leader of Opposition in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Ankush Narang, questioned how adulterated products were able to enter Delhi's markets and demanded accountability for food safety.
