New Delhi: A pained Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar on Thursday refused to conduct the proceedings, alleging disrespect from the Opposition members and objecting to a news article accusing him of prejudice.

“The conduct of the members today leaves me in pain. I find myself unable to continue proceedings in the Chair for some time,” he said, rising from the chair saying “with a heavy heart”.
Dhankhar’s decision to leave the chair followed an uproar in the House by the Opposition demanding a discussion on the disqualification of wrestler Vinesh Phogat from Paris Olympics.
