Hyderabad: A 25-year-old woman was killed by her boyfriend, who also injured three others in a knife attack at Gopanapalli Thanda, Gachibowli, in the city late Wednesday night.
According to police, the deceased, identified as Deepana Thamong, hails from West Bengal. She was residing in Gopanapalli Thanda with her friends while working as a beautician in Nallagandla.
The accused, Rakesh, originally from Bidar, was living in a hostel in Madhapur. The two were acquainted, and Rakesh had proposed marriage to Thamong over the past year, but she refused.
Frustrated by her rejection, Rakesh went to her room and attacked her with a vegetable-cutting knife found there, killing her on the spot. In the process of trying to save her, three of her friends were also injured and have been admitted to a nearby private hospital.
After the incident, Rakesh attempted suicide by touching a live electric wire on a utility pole but only sustained injuries. He, too, has been admitted to a private hospital for treatment.
A case has been registered and an investigation is underway, police added.
