India, China agree No Doklam deadlock again

Xiamen: India and China today agreed that that situations like the Doklam face off that happened recently should not happen again, and for that they agreed that their Defence personnel should maintain close contact.The border issues were discussed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit here today.


Briefing media about the meeting, Foreign Secretary Dr S Jaishankar said here that that peace and tranquility in the border area were pre-requisite for further development of relationship between two countries.Without naming Doklam, the Foreign Secretary said that both the leaders, while recognising that it was natural that the two countries being a major powers were likely to have some differences, stressed that their defence personnel should maintain strong contacts to ensure that the ‘’sort of situation that happened recently did not recur.' Dr Jaishankar said the meeting last for for about an hour, during which both sides agreed to take forward the talks.
