India-China border row: 6th round of Corps Commanders meeting underway at Moldo

New Delhi:The sixth round of Corps Commander-level talks between India and China is underway on Monday at Moldo on the Chinese side along the Line of Actual control (LAC) in the Eastern Ladakh.
For the first time joint secretary (East Asia) from ministry of external affairs Naveen Srivastava is present in the meeting.Also major generals operating in Ladakh are present in the Corps Commanders meeting.
 
The foreign affairs ministers from two sides during their meeting in Moscow had agreed for another round of Corps Commander-level meeting to bring down tension between the two armies.
 
Last week during a  high level meeting attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and CDS Gen  Bipin Rawat among others had cleared India's stand for the Corps Commanders meeting.
 
On Thursday, the MEA said India and China has built a consensus on the need for quick and complete disengagement of troops in Ladakh during the recent ministerial-level meets between the two sides.
 
The ministry said India and China should focus on easing tensions in the friction areas by refraining from any actions that may lead to an escalation in the situation.(UNI)
