India reports 10,064 Covid cases, lowest in seven months

New Delhi: India reported 10,064 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the lowest in the last seven months, according to Union Health Ministry update on Tuesday.The country has witnessed daily new cases below 20,000 for past 12 days.
The cumulative caseload in the country now stands at 1,05,81,837 including 2,00,528 active cases.The country also witnessed 17,411 new recoveries, raising the total number of recovered patients to 1,02,28,753.

The deaths in India due to COVID-19 mounted to 1,52,556 with addition of 137 more fatalities in the past 24 hours.According to the India Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 18,78,02,827 samples were tested for COVID-19 till January 18, of which 7,09,791 samples were tested till Monday.
 
Kerala houses the highest number of active cases (68,617) and Maharashtra follows with 51,887 active infections.(UNI)
