COVID tally goes past 20 Lakh, after highest spike of 62k cases

New Delhi:India reported the highest single-day spike of 62,538 COVID-19 cases during the past 24 hrs while 886 people lost their lives in the same period.
The overall cases have now surpassed the 20-lakh mark, reaching 20,27,075, whereas the death toll has mounted to 41,585, Union Health Ministry said in its daily update.Currently, 6,07,384 cases are active pan India, while more than double -- 13,78,105 -- have recovered from the disease. 
 
The active cases witnessed a surge of 11,883 cases.Meanwhile, as many as 49,769 patients were cured in the past 24-hrs.As 6,39,042 samples were tested on Thursday, the national positivity rate was recorded at 9.78 per cent. 
 
Till now, 2,27,88,393 samples have been tested for COVID, as per the Indian Council of Medical Research.(UNI)
