New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday used the opportunity of the BJP's Foundation Day to send out clear messages both to the world and the opposition at large specifying the aims and targets of his party that has completed 41 years.

"Our government is working keeping the national interest paramount. Today the country has policies. Today the country has decision-making power as well as the determination to enact its decisions. Therefore, today while we are setting goals, we are also fulfilling them," Modi said addressing a mega virtual audience from from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, from Kutch to Kohima.

"Today, India can raise its issues and concerns on a global forum without fear or pressure," Modi said.

"The India of today stands firm for its interests, without any fear or pressure. When the whole world is divided into two opposite poles, India is being seen as a country which can speak firmly of humanity. Today the whole world is seeing that in such difficult times, India is giving free ration to 80 crore poor and underprivileged," he said, underscoring the new Gen BJP that is all for poor and downtrodden and added, "During the biggest crisis of 100 years, the central government is spending about Rs 3.5 lakh crore for the poor not to sleep hungry."

The 2022 Foundation Day is important for three reasons, Modi said, explaining, “The first is that it coincides with the country's 75th year of independence. The second reason is the rapidly changing global conditions, the changing global order. The third is equally important. A few weeks ago, the double engine governments of the BJP have returned in four states.”

"BJP has been strengthening the resolve of 'Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat'," Modi said while addressing the party's workers, MPs and MLAs on the occasion of its 42nd foundation day.

The party has week-long events planned concluding with the commemoration of Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14.

Currently BJP is largest political party in India -- be it representation in parliament or party membership, since its origins in the early 1980s. (UNI)
