New Delhi: India scaled another peak on Sunday as total Covid-19 recoveries crossed the milestone of 60 lakh cases-- 60,77,976-- with 89,154 recoveries being registered in the past 24 hours in the country.
For the past eight consecutive days, new deaths recorded were less than 1,000. A total of 74,383 new confirmed cases have been reported and 918 deaths recorded in the past 24 hours in the country, an official release here said.
There were 8,67,496 active cases in India while the national recovery rate shot up to 86.17 per cent.
With increasing recoveries, India has maintained its leading global position with the maximum recovered cases.
The five top States with the maximum caseload -- 61 per cent of the active cases -- are also contributing more than half (54.3 per cent) of the total recoveries.
As much as 80 per cent of the new recovered cases were being reported from ten States of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, Delhi and Chhattisgarh.
Maharashtra led the tally with more than 26,000 new cases of recovered patients.
Eighty per cent of the 74,383 new confirmed reported in the past 24 hours were concentrated in 10 States/UT. Kerala has reported the maximum number of new cases, followed by Maharashtra. Both have contributed more than 11,000 new cases.
Of the 918 fatalities registered in the past 24 hours, a whopping 84 per cent were reported from 10 States and UTs.
With 308 deaths, Maharashtra accounted for 33 per cent of deaths reported on Saturday, followed by Karnataka with 102 deaths. (UNI)
