Mumbai: Samit Dravid, the promising son of illustrious Indian cricketer and coach Rahul Dravid, has achieved a remarkable milestone by earning his first selection in the India Under-19 squad.

Dravid, an emerging talent in Indian cricket, is set to make his mark in the upcoming multi-format home series against the Australia Under-19 team, which will take place in September and October. This series offers a prestigious platform for young cricketers to shine on the international stage and showcase their burgeoning skills.

The India Under-19 team will face off against their Australian counterparts in a series that blends both limited-overs and longer format matches. The 50-over matches are scheduled to be held in Puducherry on September 21, 23, and 26, while the series will shift to Chennai for two four-day encounters, starting on September 30 and October 7.

Mohamed Amaan, a talented middle-order batsman from Uttar Pradesh, has been named captain for the 50-over matches, bringing a wealth of domestic experience and strategic acumen to the role. Soham Patwardhan from Madhya Pradesh will lead the team in the four-day format, providing seasoned leadership and tactical expertise.

Samit Dravid’s selection comes on the back of notable performances in domestic cricket. In the Maharaja T20 Trophy, Dravid represented the Mysuru Warriors and scored 82 runs at a strike rate of 114 over seven innings. The Mysuru Warriors were competing in the semi-final on the day the Under-19 squad was announced. Earlier this year, Dravid played a pivotal role in Karnataka’s victory in the Cooch Behar Trophy, amassing 362 runs and claiming 16 wickets in eight matches, including standout performances in the final against Mumbai.

The 50-over squad includes emerging talents such as Rudra Patel, Kartikeya KP, and Kiran Chormale, along with wicketkeepers Abhigyan Kundu and Harvansh Singh Pangalia. The four-day squad features notable players like Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Vihan Malhotra, and Aditya Rawat, alongside Samit Dravid.

The upcoming matches against the Australia Under-19 team represent a critical opportunity for Samit Dravid and his teammates to gain invaluable international exposure and accelerate their cricketing development. This series promises to be a significant milestone, offering these young players a chance to test their skills against a formidable opposition and advance their careers on the global stage. As the series draws near, the cricketing community will be eagerly watching, particularly to see how Samit Dravid and his fellow young stars perform on this prominent platform.
