Zagreb: India star paddler Sathiyan Gananasekaran continued his winning run at the WTT Contender as he sailed into the men's singles quarterfinals after beating Chinese Chen Yuanyu.Sathiyan defeated Chen 3-0 (11-9, 11-7, 10-12) here at Dom Sportova on Friday night.
"DREAM RUN CONTINUES...Stormed into the quarterfinals in men singles after a strong performance tonight with a straight set victory against Chen from China here in Zagreb 2022," Sathiyan tweeted after the win.
On Thursday, the 29-year-old created a huge upset as he ousted world no.6 and European cup champion Jorgic Darko of Slovenia in the opening round.Sathiyan is a part of the Indian table tennis team for the upcoming Birmingham Commonwealth Games. The Zagreb tourney will help him to fine-tune his preparations for the marquee event.(UNI)
