“Inspiration for Millions”: PM Modi Gifts Russian Bhagavad Gita to Putin During India Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented a Russian-language edition of the Bhagavad Gita to Russian President Vladimir Putin during his two-day visit to India.

Sharing a photo of the moment on X, PM Modi described the scripture as a timeless source of wisdom and inspiration for people around the world.

“Presented a copy of the Gita in Russian to President Putin. The teachings of the Gita give inspiration to millions across the world,” PM Modi wrote.

The gesture came shortly after PM Modi personally received President Putin at Delhi’s Palam Airport on Thursday evening.

In another post, the Prime Minister expressed happiness over welcoming the Russian leader, calling the India–Russia friendship “time-tested” and beneficial to both nations.

“Delighted to welcome my friend, President Putin to India. Looking forward to our interactions later this evening and tomorrow. India-Russia friendship is a time tested one that has greatly benefitted our people,” he wrote.

The two leaders also travelled together from the airport to the Prime Minister’s residence at Lok Kalyan Marg, underscoring the warmth and strategic depth of their relationship.

President Putin's visit aims to strengthen cooperation in sectors such as defence, energy, and trade. This marks his first trip to India since the Russia–Ukraine conflict began in February 2022.
