Insult to the injury,PSA slapped on Former J&K CMs Mehbooba and Omar

Srinagar: In an insult to the injury, Public Safety Act (PSA) has been slapped on three former cheif ministers of Jammu and Kashmir. The PSA is a 1978 Jammu and Kashmir law that allows authorities to detain a person for up to two years without a trial. It is a big setback for Omar and Mehbooba Mufti as both were waiting for the release from house arrest.

The government on Thursday invoked the PSA against Mr Abdullah and Ms Mufti.Both the leaders were in detention under Section 107 of the Code of Criminal Procedure ever since the government scrapped Jammu and Kashmir's special status on August 5.

Recently,Three former chief ministers and over 20 leaders of different political parties completed six months in detention in Kashmir valley since August 5, when the Centre had scrapped the provision of Article 370 of the Constitution that granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
