Is US Using Indian Bases to Strike Iran? MEA Breaks Silence

Advertiesment
India Iran conflict news
Amid the escalating confrontation involving Iran, Israel and the United States, several claims have surfaced regarding military operations in the region. India has firmly rejected allegations that American forces are using Indian bases to launch attacks on Iran.

The claim was made by former US Army Colonel Douglas Macgregor during an interview with One America News Network (OAN). Macgregor alleged that US military bases in the Middle East had been destroyed by Iranian strikes and that Washington was now relying on Indian ports and facilities to carry out fresh attacks against Iran.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) swiftly dismissed the claim as false. In a statement posted on social media platform X, the ministry said the remarks made on OAN were “fake and false.”

“We caution you against such baseless and fabricated comments,” the MEA said, reiterating that India does not allow foreign military bases on its territory.

India has expressed deep concern over the escalating conflict and urged all parties to exercise restraint. The government called for efforts to reduce tensions and prioritize the safety of civilians.

India has historically maintained a clear policy of not allowing foreign military bases to operate from its soil.

Meanwhile, the Iran–Israel–US conflict has entered its sixth day, raising serious security concerns across the region. A major incident in the Indian Ocean on Tuesday night further intensified tensions.

According to reports, a US submarine torpedoed and sank an Iranian warship, IRIS Dena, in the Indian Ocean, killing 87 Iranian sailors.

Following the incident, Iran launched missile strikes targeting Israel early Thursday as the conflict entered its sixth day. Tehran also warned that it could target military and economic infrastructure across the region.

Shortly before Israel announced the Iranian missile attack, the Israeli military said it had begun fresh strikes in Lebanon against the Iran-backed Hezbollah militant group.

The United States and Israel had earlier intensified their bombing campaign on Wednesday, targeting Iran’s security forces and administrative institutions.

The conflict began on Saturday when the United States and Israel launched strikes targeting Iran’s top leadership, missile stockpiles and nuclear program. Both countries have signaled that weakening or toppling Iran’s current government could be among their strategic objectives.

However, shifting targets and timelines have raised concerns that the war could drag on for an extended period.

US President Donald Trump praised American forces on Wednesday for their “brilliant performance” on the battlefield. Republican allies in the US Senate also backed Trump’s stance on Iran and rejected a resolution calling for an end to the war.

As the conflict expanded, Iran launched attacks on Bahrain, Kuwait and Israel. Turkey said NATO’s defense system intercepted an Iranian ballistic missile before it could enter Turkish airspace.

According to officials, the war has so far killed more than 1,000 people in Iran, over 70 in Lebanon and around 12 in Israel.

The conflict has also disrupted global oil and gas supplies, affected international shipping routes and left millions of travelers stranded across West Asia.
