J&K: Two cops killed in firing in suspected fratricide incident near Udhampur

Jammu: Two police personnel were killed and one suffered injuries in a suspected incident of fratricide on Sunday morning in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Police in a statement said that at about 6:30 am, information was received by police at Police Station Rehmbal that two policemen from Sopore travelling towards Training Centre Talwara in Reasi district in a department vehicle have suffered bullet injuries due to firing.

"Initial investigation revealed that it is a case of fratricide and suicide," the statement said.

Meanwhile, senior police officers have reached the spot, and an investigation is underway.

Senior Superintendent of Police, District Udhampur, Amod Nagpure, said, "As per the initial investigation, it has been proven that AK-47 rifle was used in the incident. Two police personnel have died, and a third is injured but safe and rushed to the hospital."
