Srinagar: Three Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists were killed in an overnight gunfight in central Kashmir’s Budgam district, police said on Friday.

The gunfight erupted at Zowla Chadoora when joint forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area Thursday evening after receiving intelligence about the presence of terrorists in the area.

"A gunfight erupted during the CASO. In the ensuing gunfight three terrorists were killed," a police officer said.

Inspector General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar said the three slain terrorists were associated with Jaish(JeM). He identified one of the slain terrorist as Waseem, a resident of Srinagar.

".. . So far one identified as Waseem of #Srinagar City. 3 AK 56 rifles recovered. After killing of Waseem only 1 terrorist is Srinagar resident," a police tweet quoting IGP Kashmir said.

12 terrorists including an infiltrator have been killed in the five gunfights in Kashmir this year. (UNI)
