Jammu and Kashmir: CRPF ASI allegedly shoots self to death on Tarakote route in Katra

Jammu: An assistant sub-inspector of the Central Reserve Police Force on Tuesday allegedly shot himself to death with his service rifle on the Tarakote route in Katra town of Reasi district in Jammu and Kashmir.

Police said that ASI Rajnath Prasad (55), a resident of Bihar, allegedly shot himself inside the picket along the Tarakote route leading to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine.

"On hearing the gunshot, his colleagues rushed to the spot and found him lying in a pool of blood," said police.

They said that a case has been registered and the matter is being investigated to ascertain the cause of taking an extreme step.
