Jammu and Kashmir: Terrorist killed in Shopian encounter

Srinagar: Security forces shot dead a terrorist in an ongoing operation in south Kashmir's Shopian district, officials said.

The encounter erupted at the Turkwangam area of Shopian Thursday evening when joint forces of Police, Army and CRPF launched a Cordon-And-Search Operation(CASO).

“As the security forces zeroed in on the spot where terrorist were hiding they came under fire that triggered the encounter. In the ensuing encounter, a terrorist has been killed so far,” a security official said.

The identity and the affiliation of slain could not be established immediately. Police said the operation is underway. (UNI)
