Ranchi: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led coalition government, headed by Chief Minister Champai Soren, won the vote of confidence in the Assembly on Monday.

47 votes were cast in favour of the trust vote, while only 29 votes were cast against it.

Chief Minister Champai Soren has been successful in the first test, and now he has started preparing for the upcoming budget session.

Altogether 77 MLAs from parties and the opposition were present in the house.

While JMM's Ramdas Soren, BJP's Inderjit Mahato, and independent Amit Mahato were absent, everyone was already aware that Ramdas Soren and Inderjit Mahato were unwell, but an independent MLA from Barkatha, Amit Mahato, surprised everyone by remaining absent during voting.

JMM MLA from Ghatsila Ramdas Soren is suffering from a kidney problem and is undergoing treatment in a hospital in Delhi.

Whereas BJP MLA Inderjit Mahato has been ill since the Corona period, he is being treated in a private hospital in Hyderabad.

CM Champai Soren received 47 votes in support of the trust vote. 29 votes were cast against the trust vote. The 47 votes cast in support of the ruling party included 27 from JMM, 17 from Congress, 1 from RJD, 1 from JVM, 1 from CPI-ML, and the vote of one nominated MLA.

Various claims were being made by BJP and opposition party leaders regarding the trust vote of CM Champai Soren, but during voting, only 29 votes were cast against the trust vote.

These include 25 votes from the BJP, three votes from the AJSU Party, and NCP's Kamlesh Kumar Singh.

Independent MLA Saryu Rai did not participate during the voting in the Assembly regarding the trust vote.

The total number of members in the Jharkhand Assembly is 82, but on December 31, 2023, JMM MLA Sarfaraz Ahmed resigned from the assembly membership.

Due to this, the Gandeya assembly seat fell vacant.

Now the Election Commission has to take a decision regarding holding byelections in Gandey.
