New Delhi: The BJP on Sunday lashed out at Congress for dragging Amit Shah's son Jay Shah in an alleged corruption charge and said all matters raised in the article run by website was "absolutely false, hollow and defamatory". "We reject any allegation sought to be made against Jay Shah," BJP leader and Railway Minister Piyush Goyal told reporters here. "Mr Jay Shah has decided to file criminal defamation suit of Rs 100-crore against author, editor and owner of 'The Wire', " the BJP leader said. "The article is trying to damage the reputation of our leader Amit Shahji," he said adding Mr Jay Shah's business or taking of bank loans was very clean and transparent.
He also said the cases will be filed at Ahmedabad where Jay Shah's business operates. ?"Jay Shah carries out fully legitimate and lawful business and all transactions were on commercial lines," Mr Goyal said. "All loans taken (by Jay Shah) were in accordance with the law and were paid back with full interest, well within the time limit," said Mr Goyal. He also said that a set of questions sent by journalist was answered well and "point by point" by Mr Jay Shah. Meanwhile, defending Jay Shah, BJP’s national IT cell chief Amit Malviya, in a series of tweets, said: “Every new business starts with nil turnover on day one, expands later.
What is wrong with legitimate expansion of business? This was a legitimate commodity export import business, where volumes are high and margins are low so 16,000x misleading. Is Jay Shah not allowed to take loan on market rates of interest from a registered NBFC?" The Congress party on Sunday lapped up the media report that said the turnover of a company owned by BJP president Amit Shah’s son Jay has increased in an unprecedented manner.
It also asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to order a probe by the ED and the CBI. “Our appeal to the Prime Minister is that you are the pradhan sevak ….you always say na khaunga, na khane dunga….toh nahin khane dijiye.” (You always said you will not tolerate corruption, so now you must stop these)," senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal told reporters addressing a press conference at the AICC headquarters.
Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi also during the day took potshots at Mr Amit Shah over the reported business gains garnered by BJP chief's son. The story run by a website 'The Wire' claimed that company balance sheets and annual reports showed that the financial years ending March 2013 and 2014, Mr Shah’s Temple Enterprise Private Ltd. engaged in negligible activity and recorded losses of Rs 6,230 and Rs 1,724 respectively.(UNI)
