Justice S Murlidhar transferred to Punjab & Haryana HC

New Delhi:Delhi High Court Justice S Muralidhar, who was hearing the Delhi violence case,  has been transferred to Punjab and Haryana High Court.A notification in this regard was issued late Wednesday night by the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice.
The notification read, "In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 222 of the Constitution of India, the President, after consultation with the Chief Justice of India, is pleased to transfer Shri Justice S Muralidhar, Judge of the Delhi High Court, as a Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and to direct him to assume charge of his office in the Punjab and Haryana High Court".
 
President Ram Nath Kovind has approved the transfer of Justice Muralidhar on the advice of Chief Justice of India SA Bobde, exercising the powers conferred under Article 222 of the Constitution, it said.
 
The Supreme Court Collegium sent a recommendation to the government on February 12 for the transfer of three judges, including Justice Muralidhar.On Wednesday, Justice Muralidhar had lashed out at the Central Government and the Delhi police for not registering an FIR against the leaders who had given inflammatory speeches during the Delhi violence.(UNI)
