Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh government has announced three days of state mourning on the death of former CM Kalyan Singh here on Saturday night.

The cremation of the leader would be done on the banks of river Ganga at Narora on Tuesday afternoon, announced chief minister Yogi Adityanath at the SGPGIMS here tonight after paying his tribute to the great leader of the BJP.

The CM said that on August 23, there would be a public holiday in the state, the day when cremation would be held.

The CM himself accompanied the mortal remains from the hospital to his residence of Kalyan Singh at Mall Avenue.

Tomorrow the body would be kept for people to pay their last respect to the leader at the state party headquarters and at the assembly before being taking it to Aligarh.

In Aligarh, the body would be kept at the stadium for people to pay their respect and thereafter will be taken to his native place Atrauli in Bulandshahr district, informed the CM.

The cremation will be held at Narora on Tuesday afternoon.

Yogi Adityanath while paying his tribute said people of the state will always remember how Kalyan Singh ruled the state with strictness. He resigned from CM taking moral responsibility on the demolition of Babri mosque.

"The death of Kalyan Singh will certainly create a vacuum in the political area and particularly in BJP," he said.

The CM will also hold the state cabinet meeting late tonight to pay condolence to the leader.

State BJP president Swantra Deo Singh, who was also CM, paid his condolence saying that the country lost a great Hindutva leader.

Meanwhile, several state ministers, BJP leaders and common people have started reaching Mall Avenue to pay the last respect to the former CM.
