Bengaluru: Among the hot list of star campaigners for Congress in the runup to May 10 assembly election in Karnataka, the name of an influential Rajasthan party leader and former Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot is missing.
It was not at all a surprise to note the omission of Pilot as he has been protesting against the Rajasthan government led by Ashok Gehlot.
The name of Gehlot, however, figures in the list of the star campaigners which includes Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, mercurial Shashi Tharoor, former Karnataka chief minister and turncoat Jagadish Shettar among others.
Pilot had raised a bogey against his own government alleging it failed to investigate corruption cases during the BJP regime in Rajasthan. The former Rajasthan DyCM has been at loggerheads with Gehlot ever since the government came to power in 2018.
Among the other prominent names in the party's list of campaigners are KC Venugopal, Randeep Singh Surjewala, Jairam Ramesh, DK Suresh, Chhattisgarh and Himachal Pradesh Chief Ministers Bhupesh Baghel and Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, besides former Maharashtra chief minister Prithviraj Chavan.
The counting of votes will be done on May 13. (UNI)
