A former Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) Om Prakash was allegedly stabbed to death by his wife following a heated argument in Bengaluru.
The ex-IPS officer was found dead in a pool of blood in the ground floor of his three-storeyed house in HSR Layout in the city on Sunday.
Investigators believe that a verbal altercation during lunch escalated into a violent physical confrontation, during which Pallavi allegedly threw chilli powder at him, tied him up and then stabbed him multiple times with a knife, killing him on the spot, sources said. The 68-year-old was also attacked with a glass bottle.
After the murder, Pallavi spoke to her friend, the wife of another cop, and reportedly said, "I have killed the monster," the sources said.
The woman she called told her husband, who informed the police. On reaching the crime scene, police detained Pallavi and their daughter. The mother and daughter have now been questioned for about 12 hours.
According to reports, there was a property dispute involved in the crime pertaining to a land in Dandeli in Karnataka.
A 1981-batch IPS officer, Om Prakash had served in several key positions during his career and retired as Karnataka’s DGP.
