New Delhi:The Supreme Court on Friday ordered judicial review of the internet suspension in Jammu and Kashmir post abrogation of Article 370 and bifurcation of the state into two union territories.
Delivering the verdict on the pleas filed by Kashmir Times Editor Anuradha Bhasin and Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, Justice NV Ramana ordered the Jammu and Kashmir administration to review within a week all restrictive orders in place since August 5.
The bench said indefinite suspension of internet services is violation of telecom rules.Justice Ramana said, "Freedom of speech and expression includes the right to internet within Article 19".
The Top Court said all restrictive orders in Jammu and Kashmir since scrapping of provisions of Article 370 are to be made public so they can be challenged legally.(UNI)
