Kashmiri separatist group Muslim League banned for 5 years

A Kashmiri separatist group Muslim League- headed by Masarat Alam, who is currently in jail, has been banned by the Government of India for five years.The announcement of banning the group was made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in a post on X.

“The ‘Muslim League Jammu Kashmir (Masarat Alam faction)’/MLJK-MA is declared as an 'Unlawful Association' under UAPA. This organization and its members are involved in anti-national and secessionist activities in J&K supporting terrorist activities and inciting people to establish Islamic rule in J&K,” Shah said.

The Home Minister said Prime Minister Nadrendra Modi government's message is loud and clear that anyone acting against the unity, sovereignty, and integrity of our nation will not be spared and face the full wrath of the law.

Muslim League is led by Hurriyat Conference Chairman Masarat Alam who has been in Delhi's Tihar Jail since 2019.After the death of top separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani in 2021, Bhat was appointed as the Chairman of hard-line All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC).(UNI)<>
