Thiruvananthapuram: Ms Veena Tayikkandiyil, daughter of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, married P A Muhammad Riyas, National President of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) in a simple ceremony at Cliff House, the official residence of the Chief Minister, here on Monday.
The families of Veena and Riyas followed social-distancing rules and protocols during the wedding.
Only close relatives and a few political leaders attended the marriage that took place at 1030 hrs.Both were divorced earlier. Muhammad Riyas, son of retired IPS officer PM Abdul Khader, has been the National President of the DYFI since 2017.
He also contested the Lok Sabha election from Kozhikode constituency in 2009 and was defeated by MK Raghavan of the Congress by a wafer-thin margin.
Riyas began his political life with the Students Federation of India (SFI). Veena, an IT professional based in Bengaluru, runs her start-up venture, Exalogic Solutions. Recently, Opposition parties in Kerala dragged her name into the Sprinklr data transaction controversy. However, the Opposition failed to prove the allegation.
Meanwhile, Dr Shashi Tharoor MP, in a message, said "Finally, took the opportunity to convey my blessings for the CM's daughter's marriage. Life must go on amid a pandemic, and "love in the time of Covid" carries a special joy!"(UNI)
