Kozhikode: In a tragic incident, a 20-year-old youth was crushed to death on Tuesday by a luxury vehicle while he was filming a promotion video of two racing Sports Utility Vehicles (SUV) on his mobile phone at Beach Road near Kerala's Kozhikode district.
The victim was knocked down by the luxury car, as the driver reportedly was late in applying the brakes, police said.
According to police, the deceased was identified as Alwin T K of Kadameri in Vadakara in Kozhikode district. He was an employee of an automotive company in Kozhikode.
The accident took place around 7-30 a.m. Locals rushed the youth to a nearby private hospital in the same SUV car, but he succumbed to his injuries around 11-30 a.m. Later, the body was shifted to Kozhikode Medical College hospital for post-mortem.
Alwin shot a reel for the promotion video of his automotive company based in Kozhikode with two new SUVs on Beach Road. One of the SUVs knocked him down after the driver lost control of the vehicle.
Police recovered the CCTV visuals from the nearby site and registered a case of reckless driving in this connection and also took the two SUVs into custody.
