Badaun:The main accused in the gang-rape and murder case of a 50-year-old Anganwadi woman worker was arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Badaun district, police said on Friday.Superintendent of Police Siddharth Verma here said that the accused, identified as Satyanarayan, was arrested from the house of one of his followers in Mweli village of Ughaiti region late Thursday night.
He further said that the accused is being interrogated. Before his arrest, the two accused, who are said to be his disciples, were arrested on Wednesday.
The police station In-Charge was also suspended for the negligence of duty, as the family of the deceased had alleged police apathy for the delay caused in filing the FIR in the case.
According to police, the woman was gang-raped and murdered in the Ughaiti area of the district when she had gone to a temple on Sunday evening.(UNI)
