Lalu becomes RJD president for 10th consecutive term

Patna: RJD president Lalu Prasad was today formally declared elected for next term of the party president which would be his 10th consecutive term for top post of the organisation.Senior RJD leader Jagdanand Singh, Election officer appointed for election of party president, formally declared elected Mr Prasad to party president in national council meeting. He also handed over certificate to Mr Prasad to this effect.

As it is, Mr Prasad was only leader to have filed nomination for party president on November 12. The RJD was founded on July 5, 1997 and Mr Prasad has been its national president since then.A number of senior leaders including former chief minister Rabri Devi, former deputy chief minister Tejaswi Prasad Yadav, party vice presidents Raghuvansh Prasad Singh and Shivanand Tiwari were among others present on the occasion when formal announcement of Mr Prasad being elected for next term as party president was made. (UNI)
