A woman has been arrested for allegedly killing her one-year-old daughter following an argument with her husband over his late return home in Maharashtra’s Latur district, police said.
The incident took place on Monday in the Shyam Nagar area. The accused, a 30-year-old woman, reportedly got into a heated argument with her husband, a 34-year-old daily wage labourer, who returned home late in the early hours of the day.
According to police, the woman, allegedly enraged by the dispute, picked up a sharp knife from the house and attacked the infant, inflicting multiple injuries. The child died on the spot.
Following a complaint lodged by the child’s father, police arrested the woman on Monday and registered a case of murder against her.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
