New Delhi: Former senior Congress leader and Karnataka chief minister SM Krishna has said that he quit the Congress due to the ‘constant interference’ of Rahul Gandhi even when he wasn’t the party chief.

“Due to the constant interference of Rahul I quit congress. He was constantly interfering even though he was not party president. It had become unbearable,” he said.

Addressing the BJP workers in Maddur Krishna further said that he resigned as Rahul had issued an order saying that leaders who reached 80 years should not hold any ministry.

“From 2009 to 2014 when I was external affairs minister, there was a suffocating environment in the party,” said Krishna.

Krishna had joined the BJP in March 2017 after ending his decades-long association with the Congress. He was first elected an MLA on Praja Socialist Party (PSP) ticket before switching over to the Congress.
