New Delhi:The Lok Sabha witnessed uproarious scene on Friday during Question Hour after BJP members and a number of ministers created uproar in the House registering their protest over Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's 'Rape in India' remarks.
As soon as members took to their seats after Speaker Om Birla led the House in paying tribute to martyrs of Delhi police and other security personnel of December 13, 2001, BJP women members including the likes of Locket Chatterjee and Rama Devi were up on their feet raising the issue.

Union Ministers Smriti Irani and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghawal too were up on their feet.Ms Irani said: "This is first time in history that a leader is giving a clarion call that Indian women should be raped. Is this Rahul Gandhi's message to the people of the country?"

She said Congress leader had used women as a "tool for mocking his political opponents".

DMK member M K Kanimozhi, however when asked by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said everyone respected Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Make in India' slogan but what is happening in recent past suggest that crime against women has been on rise.

Perhaps this is what, Rahul Gandhi meant, the DMK member said.

BJP members were not happy with her remark and Ms Irani said she accepted the DMK member to rise above party line to highlight issues on crime against women.

"Extremely disheartened that even on issues of crime against women, you couldn't raise above party lines. I am disgusted," she said.

''Rahul Gandhi cannot be so ignorant... I am shocked. For the first time in the history of the country, a member of the Gandhi family is inviting one to come and rape women in India,'' she said.

BJP members raised slogans 'Rahul Gandhi maafi maango' (Rahul Gandhi apologise),with BJP member Sadhvi Pragya Thakur from the the front.Amid din, Speaker Om Birla adjourned the House for half an hour.(UNI)
