Maharashtra: Gold and silver worth Rs 5.50 crores seized in Satara

Satara: Satara police seized gold and silver worth Rs 5.50 crore, carried by a car from Satara to Karad, at Tasvade toll naka on the Pune-Bangalore national highway early on Monday morning.
 
According to Talbeed police of Satara district, while on a backdrop of the state assembly election, police were checking vehicles at Tasvade toll plaza. Police stopped a car on suspicion, and after checking the car, police found gold worth Rs 4.90 crore and silver worth Rs 57 lakh, for a total of Rs 5.47 crore, which was seized with the car.
 
After giving information of the incident, IT officials and GST officials rushed to Talbeed police station in the morning to take information of the incident and investigation still on.
 
This was the second incident; just a few days ago, police seized a Rs 15 lakh cash amount at the same place.
