Mann ki Baat: PM Modi calls upon people to buy local products to fulfill dream of ‘Aatmnirbhar Bharat'

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday called upon people to buy local products to promote ‘Vocal for Local’ and said it let us together fulfill the dream of ‘Aatmnirbhar Bharat’.
 
"Friends, like every time, this time too, in our festivals, our priority should be ‘Vocal for Local’ and let us together fulfill that dream; our dream is Aatmnirbhar Bharat," PM Modi said while addressing the 106th episode of his monthly radio programme 'Mann ki Baat'.
 
The Prime Minister noted that today India is becoming the world’s biggest manufacturing hub, and many big brands are manufacturing their products here.
 
"If we adopt those products, then Make in India gets a fillip, and this too is being ‘Vocal for Local," he added. The Prime Minister also urged the countrymen to use the UPI digital payment system.
 
“While buying local products, insist on paying through the UPI digital payment system, the pride of our country. Make it a habit in your life,” he said.
 
PM Modi encouraged tourists to buy local products. “Friends, today I want to repeat one more request to you and repeat it very insistently. Whenever you go on tourism or pilgrimage, you should buy the products made by the local artists.
 
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the culmination of the Amrit Kalash Yatra will be marked in Delhi's Kartavya Path on the 31st of this month.
 
He said the soil collected from every corner of the country under the Amrit Kalash Yatra is now reaching Delhi, and this soil will be put in an enormous Bharat Kalash and an ‘Amrit Vatika’ will be built in Delhi.
 
The Prime Minister stated that it will remain a grand legacy of the Amrit Mahotsav in the heart of the country’s capital.
 
The Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, which has been going on for the last two and a half years across the country, will conclude on October 31.
 
On this day, the nation celebrates the birth anniversary of Iron Man, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Modi said Indians remember his incomparable role in integrating more than 580 princely States of the country.
 
Every year on October 31, the main function related to Unity Day is held at the Statue of Unity in Gujarat. PM Modi urged the people to organise Run for Unity programs on this day and join in large numbers.
 
The Prime Minister informed that the foundation of a nationwide organisation "Mera Yuva Bharat," is being laid on the occasion.
 
The Organisation will provide an opportunity for the youth to play an active role in various nation-building events. The Prime Minister asked the youth to register on MyBharat.gov.in and sign up for various programmes.
 
Touching upon the subject of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, Modi shared two inspiring endeavours related to the heritage of Tamil Nadu. He mentioned Tamil writer ShivaShankari who has undertaken a project called Knit India through literature.
 
She has been working on this project for the last 16 years. Through this project, she has translated literature written in 18 Indian languages.
 
She travelled across the country, from Kanyakumari to Kashmir and Imphal to Jaisalmer, to interview writers and poets from different states. ShivaShankari published the accounts along with travel commentaries in both Tamil and English.
 
During the programme also paid tributes to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi whose death anniversary is on the October 31.
 
Speaking about sports, PM Modi Modi exuded pride that Indian players have achieved tremendous success in the Para-Asian Games. India has created a new history by winning 111 medals in these games.

The Prime Minister congratulated all the athletes participating in the Para Asian Games and lauded the Indian team for winning 200 medals, including 75 gold medals, at the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Berlin.
 
"This competition is a wonderful opportunity for athletes with intellectual disabilities to display their capabilities," he said. (UNI)
