Maratha Kranti Morcha activists staged strong demonstration in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

Activists of Maratha Kranti Morcha on Saturday staged a strong agitation here to protest against the lathi-charge on the protestors who were demanding reservation for the Maratha community in Antarwali village of Jalna district on Friday.

Hundreds of Maratha Kranti Morcha members gathered in Kranthi chowk area of the city and raised slogans against the Eknath Shinde-led government in the state.

During the agitation, agitators demanded resignation of Deputy Chief and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis and suspension of Jalna superintendent of police.

Also, action should be taken against culprits who lathi-charged on the protestors, including women.

On this occasion, the community leaders called for peace and said that they will hold agitation in a democratic and peaceful manner, announced Vinod Patil, petitioner of Maratha reservation case in Supreme Court.

Heavy police force was deployed at this time to thwart any untoward incident.

City police commissioner Manoj Lohia has appealed for peace and not to believe in rumours.

Meanwhile, NCP national president Sharad Pawar today met protesters who were injured in the baton charge by police in Jalna district.

Ruling and Opposition parties are seen to be blaming each other over the issue of reservation for Marathas.The Beed and Jalna districts observed 'bandh' today to protest against the incident .(UNI)<>
