Militant killed, two jawans injured in Kupwara encounter

Srinagar: An unidentified militant, believed to be a foreigner, was killed and two soldiers were injured in an encounter on Monday morning in the woods of frontier district of Kupwara, official sources said.
Troops of Rashtriya Rifles (RR) came under fire during a routine patrolling at Safawali Gali near the Line of Control (LoC) in the frontier district of Kupwara this morning. Troops also retaliated and in the ensuing encounter a militant was killed and two soldiers were injured. The identity of the militant was being ascertained. The injured were evacuated to hospital.
 
Sources said additional security forces have joined the operation and a massive search was going on when the reports last came in.
 
A soldier Mukul Meena was killed and another injured in the encounter in the Kupwara woods on July 11 where a militant was also gunned down by troops next day on July 12.(UNI)
